06. How do I know if I have a serious health condition or a family member has a serious health condition?

Family Medical Leave The definition of a serious health condition includes:
- Hospital care
- Absence of four days or more plus treatment two or more times (also includes one treatment and continuing supervision)
- Pregnancy complications, postpartum healing
- Chronic conditions requiring treatments
- Permanent long-term conditions requiring supervision
- Multiple treatments (non-chronic conditions)
The OFLA definition of a serious health condition closely tracks the FMLA serious health condition definition.
